We all know conferencing is one of the easiest ways to go green. But don't stop there - going green is a lot easier than you think - and your office is a perfect place to start.
1. Turn off your computer.
This is a no brainer. If you don't already turn off your monitor and computer (or put it in standby/sleep mode) when you're not in the office, START!
2. Use mugs rather than Styrofoam cups.
1984 called - and they want their Styrofoam cups back! Seriously, bring in your favorite cup or mug instead and stop wasting Styrofoam, paper, and plastic cups.
3. Switch to the greenest paper available.
First and foremost try to print as little as possible. But when you have to print documents - choose the green stuff, made with 100% post-consumer waste, recycled, never-bleached paper.
4. Recycle. Recycle. Recycle.
Are you smarter than a 5th grader? Let's see - do you recycle in your office? If no, then start recycling already! Even a 5th grader knows the benefits of recycling and that means everything: toner cartridges, aluminum, glass, paper, and cardboard.
5. Turn off the lights!
It turns out your dad was right when he told you to turn off lights whenever you leave the room. According to the EPA's Green Lights Program, the common belief that turning a light off and on wastes energy is a myth. So give the electricity bills a break and flip the switch!
If you're already doing some of these things - go ahead and give yourself a pat on the back - we're proud of you. If not, what are you waiting for? It's easy being green.
